I Am a Guest on The First Long-Form NFT Podcast

Today, I’d like to show-and-tell an intersection of worlds.

I was on a friend’s podcast… which is the first long-form podcast NFT… in which we talk about web3, media, and decentralization. It’s web3 in Micro AND Macro. Welcome to an early experiment on the future of media.

My friend Sky King (who was the first interview I ever published on my Podcast), has started his own podcast. It’s the first podcast to be minted as an NFT (whole episode and 18 separate clips).

In his first episode, Sky earned $12,000 in NFT sales with an audience of less than 100 people. That is the earning power of an ad-supported podcast with an audience of 600,000.

I’d love to break that record. I’m honored to be the second NFT’d guest on his podcast, which is Episode #5, out now – with its own batch of 19 NFTs! You can see the art + audio combinations (and listen) on Sky King’s RMRK Storefront

Note: There was a pre-sale of 5 pieces yesterday to Sky’s subscribers, which sold out within 30 minutes at .5 KSM ($150) each. Floor price is currently 5 KSM ($1,500). This email went out at 9am central, 1 hour before the NFTs come available.

Sky’s podcast, Sky King’s Mental Playground, is a pilot of Sky’s massive vision – to build a platform for creators to get support directly from audiences, without needing advertiser support. The topics are decentralization, new media formats, and story.

The podcast is normally paid-only, but today he is offering you, as one of my readers, free access to this episode for one week on his pageListen free here!

Discussions in our NFT Podcast:

Sky pulled his favorite clips from the episode and commissioned an artist to do illustrations to represent each audio clip. The theme is these sick Robot Fremen inspired by DUNE:

This project represents an early experiment in the next evolution of media. Sky is working on building STOA, a platform to facilitate zero-advertisement, consume-to-earn, and create-to-earn media monetization models on the blockchain. To Purchase an NFT of this podcast:

The podcast NFTs are hosted on Kusama, which is the canary network for Polkadot Ecosystem. (For more on Polkadot, check out my episode with Dan Reecer).

To buy an NFT, you will need a Wallet on Substrate (which supports the Kusama and Polkadot Blockchains) and to have purchased or swapped for some KSM tokens (Kusama).

If you are unfamiliar with RMRK, Polkadot/Kusama ecosystems I highly recommend you make your way through these short videos so you can set up your wallet, buy some KSM and join in the fun.

Disclaimer and cool web3 shit – Details tbd, but I believe as the guest on this episode, Sky is offering me a share of the sales from this batch of NFTs from the podcast. You can totally imagine this becoming a thing as people collaborate and smart contracts enable automatic fractional payments to guests and contributors.
